Ethical Decisions Free Essays
Chapter 6 Ethics Issue Brenton T. Percell BUS323 Commercial Law Salem University In your opinion, was it ethical for Mr. Trump to broadcast this type of information to the public? When making an ethical decision, the following questions should be asked is it a utilitarian decision approach, deontological approach or virtue ethical approach. We will write a custom essay sample on Ethical Decisions or any similar topic only for you Order Now The utilitarian decision meaning was the firing for the greater good for the mass of people? No. Was it a deontological decision based on, treat others how one would want to be treated, No. The last philosophical reasoning being virtue decision. Virtue decisions are defined to be genuine and honest and should be handled in that manner is a public relation leader. When decisions are made with virtue in mind, all decisions should be made ethically to ensure honesty is conserved. (Bennett-Alexander Harrison, 2012, pg16-18) (Media, 2018) With the above steps in understanding an ethics decision defined in my opinion the manner that Mr. Trump chose to terminate his employment with Mrs. Carolyn Kepcher, publicly on his BLOG, stating,â⬠She loved her fame, and she loved celebrity Apprentice, and it was affecting her work.â⬠was unethical. If this was the case was it any progressive action to make Mrs. Kepcher aware of her performance or was she just terminated? These are grounds of termination depending on a contract agreement, state laws (at- will). The action that makes this judgment unethical is the hiring of his daughter proceeding after the termination of Mrs. Carolyn Kepcher. (Bennett-Alexander Harrison, 2012, Pg154) In your opinion, where should we, as a society, draw our (1) legal and (2) ethical lines regarding the type of information shared in this context? [Please keep in mind, for a variety of reasons, an ethical behavior may require more restrictions and restraint on actors than one would want to codify in law.] The legal implication in this situation cannot be made soundly due to the unknown variables such as contract, state that contract was signed legally no laws were broken, Mr. Trump was on his account that solely reflects on himself and his brand. Which is within his right, freedom of speech. The reasoning for the termination may not be the best or ethically sound but it is a reason. In my opinion, it is more of an ethical/ moral issue rather than a legal issue. No-one rights were violated during the firing of Mrs, Kepcher. References Bennett. (2012). Urinary Tract Infection
Question: Discuss about theUrinary Tract Infection. Answer: Clinical Presentation The symptoms are painful, burning sensation while urinating, incontinence and passing of small amounts of urine. The woman used Ural for about six months that relieved the symptoms of burning sensation while urination. It alkalizes the urine and relieves from the burning sensation. Patient Disposition The symptoms of painful, burning sensations during urination are an indication for urinary tract infection. The incontinence and small amounts of urine despite of the frequent urination satisfy the condition of inflammation of the bladder. The woman is suffering from cystitis with an incapacitating bladder. It is a lower urinary tract infection. It is more common in women due to their anatomy. The Escherichia coli bacteria travel to bladder due to short urethra in women and multiply there. This type of bacteria prevails in the gastro-intestinal tract. Diagnosis The woman needs to be registered with the general practitioner. The most important test is the urinalysis. The white blood cells would be cultured for any kind of bacterial infection. The urine culture would be treated with different strains of antibiotics to determine the best treatment for the urinary tract infection. An ultrasound is needed to evaluate for the bladder and kidney problems. Cystoscopy is required to visualize the urethra and the bladder conditions. Treatment Though Ural relieves the symptom of burning sensation during urination, it should be taken in combination with antibiotics. The urinary tract infection responds well and quickly to antibiotics. According to European Association on Urology, the antibiotic treatment is the first line of treatment in person suffering from cystitis (4). It is a successful clinical treatment in women. It would treat or eradicate the bacterial growth in the bladder. The choice of antibiotics is governed by many factors; the spectrum of the antibiotic, susceptibility, tolerability, efficacy in the clinical studies, cost and availability (1). The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases recommends chemical composition of amoxicillin and clavulanate, cephalexin, norfloxacin, trimethoprim for cystitis (2). The antibiotic treatment would relieve her of the pain and the symptoms would improve in two or three days. Nitrofurantoin and Fosfomycin is the best choice of antibiotic treatment in cystitis. It is a f avorable antimicrobial drug for the treatment of cystitis in many countries. The cystitis could be managed in many ways. The woman should drink plenty of water at least two liters a day (3). She could consume cranberry juice containing proanthocyanidin as it stops the bacteria from sticking to the wall of the bladder. She should be recommended to empty her bladder every time she passes urine. She should reduce the use of Ural as its prolonged use could cause side effects like acid-base and electrolyte balance in the body. This could lead to kidney problems in future. In place of Ural, the intake of bicarbonate in a glass of water could act as a urine alkaliniser and could relieve of the acidity in urine reducing the burning sensation. She should take plenty of rest for the body to fight against the infection and should eat a healthy diet and maintain a hygienic lifestyle to avoid further infection. References Baerheim A. The Nuclear Arms Race Essay Example For Students
The Nuclear Arms Race Essay In order to maintain peace and stability in the world, there must be a balance of power between countries. The Nuclear Arms Race was started because there wasnt a balance of power after World War II. The U.S. was the only country at that time which possessed nuclear weapons. Russia, fearing a United States domination of world power, developed a nuclear bomb of its own. Thus started the Arms Race, in which both countries attempted to gain the upper hand in terms of the number of nuclear warheads each possessed. However, the Arms Race ended when several treaties in arms reduction were passed. I believe that in the end, the United States and the Soviet Union realized that one country would eventually win, and the balance of power would again be shifted. Fearing a nuclear war, arms negotiations began in an attempt to lessen the tension. This is evident in the fact that treaties between the two countries were signed, agreeing on the limitation and testing of nuclear arms. It is also illus trated in the Cuban Missile Crisis, where Russia agreed to withdraw the missiles placed in Cuba, fearing U.S. retaliation. We will write a custom essay on The Nuclear Arms Race specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now In order to better understand the Arms Race, a brief history must be given. The Arms Race probably began in August of 1949, when Russia detonated its own nuclear weapon, thus ending the U.S. monopoly. In response, president Truman ordered the development of the hydrogen bomb in January of 1950. However, the Soviet Union made the first H-bomb in August of 1953. Then, the race escalated when the Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile was developed in the summer of 1957, again by the Soviets. A serious crisis arose in 1962, when the Soviets placed ballistic missiles in Cuba, their new ally. The missiles were withdrawn when the U.S. threatened nuclear retaliation. In return, President Kennedys promised not to invade Cuba. The world had never come closer to a nuclear war. Negotiations, beginning with the establishment of the International Atomic Energy Agency in 1957, began between the two countries. As the possibility of war rose, the United States and the Soviet Union saw the necessity of treaties to prevent disaster. A series of talks called SALT, or the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks, began in November 1969 and ended in January 1972. Two treaties, limiting the number of allowed weapons, radars, and launchers each country could possess, were signed on May 26, 1972. Then the SALT II talks began in September 1972 and ended in January 1979. A new treaty, called the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, began in May of 1982. In July of 1991, George Bush and Soviet President Gorbachev signed the START I Treaty, which reduced the number of nuclear warheads by about 25 percent. A START II Treaty, signed by Bush and Yeltsin in January 1993, eliminated almost three-quarters of the nuclear warheads still held by the U.S., Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. And thus ended the arms race. Several questions are raised from these arguments. Although relations between the United States and Russia are now stable, does that mean that the threat of a nuclear war is gone? And who has won the arms race, anyway? I dont think that anybody won the arms race, and I believe that thats a good thing. It is better to divide power in to several hands than to keep it in one. As for the threat of a nuclear war, I think that it is still present. Eventually, other countries will develop nuclear technology, and somebody might decide that they want to rule the world. But these are only my opinions, and only time will tell us the answer.

However, you canââ¬â¢t rely on shortcuts to arrive at an excellent score if youââ¬â¢re missing knowledge that is critical for understanding essential aspects of the test. Be warned that these SAT hacks, though helpful, are no substitute for in-depth studying, especially if you struggle with the content at a fundamental level. If you think you need prep that addresses deeper weaknesses, you should check out our complete guide on how to study for the SAT. Overall SAT Hacks Here are some tricks you can use on any part of the SAT to help you get through the section and earn the most points possible. #1: Answer Every Question (No Matter What) The SAT doesnââ¬â¢t have a guessing penalty, so you should fill in an answer bubble for every question even if you have no clue what the correct response is.If you find yourself with a few questions left in the section and only 30 seconds on the clock, you should provide random answers for all of them. You never know if youââ¬â¢ll get lucky and answer one or two correctly, and even if you donââ¬â¢t, your score wonââ¬â¢t be any lower than if you had left the questions blank. #2: Be Prepared for the Format Knowing what to expect is half the battle on the SAT.When you sit down to take the test, you want everything to look familiar so you can avoid mistakes triggered by stress. At the very least, you shouldreview the timing and structure of the exambefore test day.Taking practice tests with appropriate time constraints is the best thing you can do to alleviate confusion on this front. #3: Donââ¬â¢t Linger on Hard Questions Getting stuck on one question for too long can do serious damage to your performance on the SAT, especially considering the fact that there are only four sections. If you have no idea how to solve a math problem or canââ¬â¢t seem to settle on one choice for a writing or reading question, skip it and move on.You can come back to it after you make it through the rest of the section. #4: Practice Managing Anxiety Especially if youââ¬â¢re hoping to earn a really high score, coming across a problem that stumps you can kill your momentum on the test.To avoid this pitfall, you need to establish coping mechanisms to deal with these moments of doubt without letting them affect your overall performance. Mindfulness techniques are a great tool to have in your arsenal. Check out this article for more tips on how to reduce test anxiety! Imagine you're not taking the SAT. Instead, you're floating on a serene lake under a beautiful blue sky. You still have to stay awake, though. Seriously, don't fall asleep. SAT Reading Hacks Here are a few more SAT hacks that are specific to the content and format of the SAT Reading section. #5: Plan a Passage Reading Strategy Donââ¬â¢t jump into the test without deciding how you plan to approach passages on the Reading section. Are you more comfortable with skimming, or do you like to read the questions first and then go back and reference the passage to locate the answers? Complete apractice Reading section with appropriate time constraints so you can figure out what feels most comfortable for you and makes for the fewest struggles with time management. #6: Take Advantage of Find the Evidence Questions Find the evidence questions on the SAT are a gift because they help make the correct answers to the previous questions clearer. If none of the answer choices for a find the evidence question make sense in conjunction with your answer to the previous question, this should prompt you to double-check your reasoning. These questions remind you that you need to choose answers to Reading questions based on concrete statements made in the passage. If you made any unfounded assumptions, find the evidence questions will alert you to your mistakes. #7: Engage With the Content Itââ¬â¢s much easier to get through the Reading section if you develop an interest in what the passages have to say.Youââ¬â¢ll also retain more information from the passage when you move onto the questions. To get yourself interested, envision a scenario in which it's absolutely critical for you to remember what the passage says so you can explain it to other people. Imagine that you'll be presenting the information in the passage to another group of students after you finish reading it. "Notice anything different about me? Teehee" Denise, I accept that love is love, but you just met the SAT Reading section a week ago. YOU'VE BEEN HURT TOO MANY TIMES. SAT Writing Hacks These hacks will give you some insight into the way Writing questions work and how you can answer them more efficiently. #8: When in Doubt, Choose the Most Concise Answer The shortest answer is often the best answer on the Writing section because good writing consists of saying what needs to be said without any unnecessary fluff.Super wordy answers are usually not the ones you want.Of course, this doesnââ¬â¢t hold true for every single question, but itââ¬â¢s a solid rule of thumb if youââ¬â¢re stuck. #9: NO CHANGE Answers Are Just Like Other Choices Often, NO CHANGE answers are wrongfully viewed as more likely or less likely options than other answer choices in the Writing section. In fact, theyââ¬â¢re just as likely to be correct as any of the alternative options. Donââ¬â¢t be afraid to pick NO CHANGE if youââ¬â¢ve double checked your reasoning and determined that itââ¬â¢s the correct choice. #10: Get Rid of Duplicate Answers Sometimes, questions on the Writing section will have answer choices that are so similar to one another that choosing one over the other wouldnââ¬â¢t make any functional difference in the sentence structure. Thismeans you can get rid of two choices in one fell swoop. If theyââ¬â¢re essentially the same answers, then neither of them is unique enough to be the correct choice. Here's an example: In this case, C and D are functionally the same answers. They both indicate that the author is about to make a statement that goes against what was said in the previous sentence or sentences. Both C and D can be eliminated (the answer is NO CHANGE for this question). Sometimes answer options are just two halves of the same bad berry. This strawberry actually looks really good though. SAT Math Hacks The SAT has two Math sections, one taken without the use of a calculator and one taken with the use of a calculator. On both of these sections, you can use the following SAT hacksto improve your performance. #: Donââ¬â¢t Ignore Diagrams In many cases, the test will provide a diagram to help illustrate a math problem. These diagrams exist for your benefit, so make sure you pay attention to all the information they give you.Does your answer mesh with the way the diagram looks? If youââ¬â¢re asked to find a dimension of a shape, make sure the relative sizes make sense. Your final answer shouldnââ¬â¢t seem out of whack with what the diagram is telling you. #12: Know the Formulas Although the SAT does provide important formulas at the beginning of each of the Math sections, youââ¬â¢ll be a much more efficient test-taker if you have the formulas memorized. It's a waste of time to keep flipping back to the beginning of the section whenever you think you need a formula to solve a problem. For studying purposes, here'sa list of all the formulas you might need for the SAT Math section. #13: Underline Your Goal To keep yourself on track in the Math section, underline the value that you need to find (and circle it in the diagram if applicable). It's frustrating to confidently solve a math problem and later realize that you had to take your calculations one step further to actually get the answer the question wanted. In many cases, the wrong answers will be answers that you might get if you didnââ¬â¢t complete the solution process or solved for the incorrect quantity. #14: Plug in Answers If you have no idea how to solve a math problem, one way to get around that is just toplug in the answer choicesuntil you find the correct solution. This oftentakes longer than solving aproblem with algebra, but if you have time, it can be a useful strategy. Plugs, not drugs. This is probably a t-shirt by now, right? SAT Essay Hacks The essay is optional on the SAT, but many colleges still require it. Hereare some ways you can improve the quality of your essay with minimal effort. #15: Provide a Clear Thesis The essay graders are looking for an easy way to interpret your essay and understand the points youââ¬â¢re making. The best way to tap into this is to write a strong thesis that falls at the end of the introductory paragraph.Reread the central claim of the passage thatââ¬â¢s described in the prompt, and transpose it into your thesis statement. Make sure you sketch out the structure of your essay in your thesis by listing three examples of major techniques the author uses to support his or her argument. #16: Write a Good Intro and Conclusion The introductory and concluding paragraphs are extremely important because graders typically pay the most attention to these parts of your essay. The introduction gives graders a preview of the quality of the rest of the essay and the way youââ¬â¢ll structure your ideas. It also contains your thesis, which is the most critical sentence in the entire essay and is what ties all of your points together. #17: Write More Than One Page Try to make your essay around two pages long. The graders donââ¬â¢t have a specific quota for the number of words they want to see, but they expect you to provide a response that fully addresses the most important components of the authorââ¬â¢s argument.Itââ¬â¢s almost impossible to do this if your response only takes up one page.Consider whether youââ¬â¢ve really explained whatââ¬â¢s going on in the passage, and if necessary add more evidence to make your essay complete. Also, make sure your writing is legible. If you bring a quill to the test, expect some backlash. Conclusion: How to Hack the SAT "Hacking" the SAT is possible to an extent, but you need to understand the content fairly well before you can employ most of these tips successfully. To recap, here's a list of all the SAT hacks listed in the article organized by section: Overall Answer every question Be prepared for the format Don't linger on hard questions Learn to manage anxiety Reading Develop a passage reading strategy Use find the evidence questions to your advantage Engage with the content Writing Choose the most concise answer Remember that NO CHANGE answers are no more or less common than other options Eliminate duplicate answer options Math Don't ignore the diagrams Underline your goal Know the formulas Plug in answer options Essay Provide a clear thesis Write a strong introduction and conclusion Write at least two pages If you follow all these pieces of advice and combine them with in-depth studying, you'll be well on your way to an awesome score on the SAT! Psychology of Personality Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Psychology of Personality - Research Paper Example This paper compares and contrasts the theories of two psychologists who have developed theories in the subject area. Finally this paper discusses the major differences between Intrapsychic and Interpsychic processes followed by empirical applications. Albert Ellis and Carl Rogers both agreed on utilizing the psychoanalytical approach to diagnosing and describing individual personalities and emotional intelligence. The primary difference between the two is the method through which they deployed the psychoanalytical process to solve any diagnosed problems (Curtis, 2003). Specifically, Ellis believed that rational analysis and cognitive reconstruction allowed individuals to understand their self destructive attitudes by bringing their irrational beliefs to conscious evaluation. On the other hand, Rogers was more focused on the development of the concept of the self. He observed that conditional and unconditional positive regard for the self is key to productive lifestyles that solve per sonality disorders (Curtis, 2003). These conditions of worth affect the individualsââ¬â¢ capacity to achieve self actualization. ... The purpose of the approach is to help clients overcome self-defeating beliefs and behaviors by demonstrating how irrational, destructive, and unhealthy they are. The fundamental principle of the theory is the fact that a person is rarely affected (emotionally) by external factors. Instead, individuals are impacted by their perceptions, attitudes, and internal monologues about the external activity (Curtis, 2003). Rational Therapy provides 3 overarching Insights (Ellis, 2003). The first is that there are activating events that precede emotional disturbances. But the activating events are evaluated within a perspective that is dysfunctional or based on irrational beliefs. The second is that the timeline that individuals acquire self defeating beliefs does not affect the individualsââ¬â¢ propensity to change it. Activating events can occur in a series and reaffirm the irrational beliefs (Ellis, 2003). The final insight is that patients will feel better when the feel as if they know how they became disturbed. But the acceptance of insights 1 and 2 is the internal link to the patient getting better (Ellis, 2003). Carl Rogersââ¬â¢ theory of the self is categorized as both a humanistic and phenomenological approach. Rogersââ¬â¢ articulation of his theory is both extensive and nuanced. In his attempts to empirically evaluate psychotherapy, he conducted a scientific approach out of a need to be compatible with the status quo at all times (Rogers, 1959). Rogers focuses on the development of the personality where he discusses the realization of principles instead of reaching stages. Specifically he focuses on the development of a self concept and the

English paper - Essay Example My quest for knowledge and learning ability leads me to write efficiently and learn more in the field of writng. I have the ability to express my feelings about different subjects, like life, nature, politics, history and so on. This course helped me in understanding writing from a different perspective which further helped me in polishing my existing skills. My attitude towards writing changed after the course as I learnt to give my own opinion when it came to discussion about different topics. I no longer depend on otherââ¬â¢s opinion and have developed the potential to write on any subject using my own researching skills. I have learnt not to plagiarize and try to research and provide original content with my personal views and knowledge. The originality of the work is what I have learnt through the course. The course has helped me to learn about different topics and study them clearly. I have been able to critically assess different works and pin point the views put down by ot hers. By amalgamating different views and assessing them I have been able to grab the skills of a critical analyst. With time I have also been able to put forward arguments to my own opinions. Arguments to my own opinions help me greatly when it comes to deriving conclusions. In my view a good piece of writing has to have no weakness or so. In my view a good piece of writing is when person is able to express his opinions about a topic with the ground facts about it. The writing should not be bias and should analyze different perspectives. I analyze a good writing based on the opinions given by the writer. The perspectives analyzed are the foremost part which should be noticed. The arguments given by the writer are the second most important part which is to be seen so that one can analyze a good piece of writing. Finally the flow of the writing should be seen and the conclusion given by the writer about the specific topic which is being talked

Global Challenges in Information Systems
Global Challenges in Information Systems Intro: In this modern times, the world operates on numerous information systems. It is evolving rapidly and the functionality of it is seemingly increasing and so information system is becoming a requirement and not a choice. Today, an electronic network which is the internet allows access to a vast amount of information sources. This indicates every single individual and organisations can obtain information with no problems if the entity has internet access. Currently, information is accessible from database, WAIS (Wide Area Information Servers), gopher, and a wide variety of sites which contains information across the web. Every large company worldwide that relies on e-commerce have been globalized through the internet and so companies such as Amazon, VF, Ebay or Walmart are very successful in terms of marketing and sales. However, opportunities in a global scale presents several challenges including culture and language, distance and time. With the creation of the internet, the augmentation of global markets is feasible. There is an abundance in terms of the number of business transactions that occurs each day through the internet globally. The use of information technology provides support to business processes that allows operations such as business-to-customer or business-to-business transaction to be easier. Cultural challenge The information system is conflicted internationally by cultural differences in various other countries and areas of the world. Every country in the world has its own traditions and culture that may differ from and not accustomed to other country.Ãâà These dissimilarities form a cultural barrier in which affects companies that endeavor global trade. The difficulties that businesses will encounter are managing people, tastes, issue with ethics, gestures and specific groups averse to Westernisation. An American commercial fast-food franchise company such as McDonalds may find it difficult to establish other franchisee in other continent like Asia due to preference of taste. The technologies applied to entice the customers in the United States to McDonalds taste of food could be irrelevant as it may not work in Asia. Therefore, organisations managing food products must examine and alter the taste of their food to ensure that they satisfy the local demands. Language challenge: On the internet, the most common language used is English. However, there is only a fraction of 26.3 percent that speaks English as opposed to 74.7 percent of non-English speaking countries. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/262946/share-of-the-most-common-languages-on-the-internet/). There is a seemingly an issue with the translation of information to other languages which causes a laborious process of translating the precise meaning of the info from one language to another. Google has provided a solution in translating dialogue, text, pictures, or real-time videos into 103 different languages. (http://www.bgr.in/news/google-translate-turns-10-now-supports-103-languages-translates-100-billion-words-every-day/). The challenge that large companies which retains international partners must decide on choosing a common language. Information is required to be translated due to the lack of computers capability to accurately translate words. The Challenge of distance and time: Time differences is a challenge for people to communicate with others that resides in a different part of the world. The products may have a delivery time of days, weeks or even months to be received to other countries. This creates delays and disruption with business transaction which causes employees and customers located in different countries to have difficulty with getting connected. VF, an apparel manufacturer company has formed an idea of constructing new communication tools that make it easier for everyone to work together. (reading review1) By doing this, it allowed them to combat these challenges and provided a solution they need to increase the longevity of their company. Conclusion: Looking at the global challenges in information system stated above shows us the overview of companies that uses e-commerce must deal with.Ãâà Modern technology and the use of internet is changing how Businesses and organisations around the globe is operating. More and more are advertising their products online to effectively make sales. Companies utitlise technology to ensure handling good teamwork is attained across geographical boundaries.
